Heya...

I thought a lot about "my new obsession" over the last days, especially about Steve/Danny and the "relationship" they are having and where the writers could have head to... and since I'm always "up for discussion", I thought, I could maybe share "my" opinion about this... especially because I REALLY don't know what to think about anymore... *lol* I thought I knew, but I'm not so sure anymore...

I have to admit: When I saw the first episode, I wasn't very thrilled at all... of course I noticed the "tension" between Steve an Danny, but becaues the show itself didn't hook me "immediately", I didn't think all too much about it... then there was the 2nd episode which I TOTALLY loved and adored and all of sudden I fell for the show...

and of course for Steve/Danny and whatever it is they are having...

But well, since I love this show, I'm now REALLY thinking about, which direction the writers will choose...

I'd like to compare it for example to "Bones" and the relationship between Booth and Bones... there always was some "tension" right from the start, and even if they are STILL not together or close to being together, it's more then obvious, that at SOME point they will be... maybe it will mean the end of the show, I don't know, but since they are really dragging it out for SOOOOO long, I think it will be the Season finale sooner or later... the wedding or something like that... them finally getting together...

but it's not as if there "never happened" anything between them... the writers are always throwing some bones... for example in Season 3 when they kissed underneath the mistle toe... or last season, with Booth REALLY wanting to "go for it"...

Now I'm asking myself, what the writers of "Hawaii Five-0" want... I mean, it's obvious that they want to show Steve and Danny as straight cool guys... I mean, why else would they bring "Catherine" into the game at all if not to prove that Steve is "oh so straight"...

but on the other hand they are "throwing bones" either, like in the last episode with the "Who are you talking to, your wife?" - "My partner" conversation... or the "You miss me, don't you?" thing...

It's as if the writers know EXACTLY what they are doing and that they really do this on purpose...

But I don't think they are REALLY heading into the direction of getting Steve and Danny together at some point, or do they?

I mean, I'm absolutely aware of the fact that the "main thing" of the show will be the "solving crimes" suspect, like it's always in "such shows"... It's in BONES too... or in for example 21 JUMP STREET and so on... but at some point, there IS some romance involved... mostly... even in "The Mentalist" we already HAD this kind of thing (and I haven't given up hope yet, that there will happen something again between 2 of the characters :P), so I'm asking myself, if at some point Steve and Danny will both hook up with girls or if they will stay single and have this "awkward kind of relationship"...

I mean, for ME it's always "more interesting" seeing something that "is not there" or better to say "something that they don't show"... I'm a slash whore like whoa, and the people who know me know this either, and I always had a thing for "pairings that don't really exist"... like in Prison Break Michael and Sucre or Lincoln and Alex and there is a loooooooooooong list of this... "my" pairings usually DON'T get together at all *lol*

Personally I don't think we will ever actually see Steve and Danny kissing, but on the other hand... if the writers REALLY wanna show how "straight" they are, why all this "hints" that they are not? Why all this comments about them "having something together"?

I'm a bit confused to be honest *lol*

and the other thing is: I don't know much about Alex or Scott... I mean, nothing "personal", like if they even would act something like that... I mean, I don't think they are homophobic at all, don't misunderstand me, but there ARE actors who prefer NOT to play a gay role or kiss people of the same sex, even for a movie or a tv-show... I don't know if Alex or Scott would actually "do it"... but I would love them if so *lol* =D

So well... what do YOU think? Do you think there WILL happen something at some point? Or are the writers just "playing" with the watcher's fantasies?

I mean, honestly... if they would actually be "brave" enough to go for something like that, that would be a first, would it? At least *I* have never seen something like that in a crime show... a lot of man/female main characters hooking up but never some male/male main characters hooking up =p I would love to see something like that for once =D

I just read your entry, and I can agree with you wholeheartely :-)

I was asking myself, if there will EVER happen something between Steve and Danny... they wouldn't even have to "mean" it romantically... I mean... they could have a case where they would play a "gay couple"... I mean, even in 21 Jump Street and that was over 20 years ago, there were "such hints" from time to time, and I even remember that they had to do "something like that"... don't pin me down on this, but I'M pretty sure there was at least on case in which Tom and Doug had to "play guy", and Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise were definitely aware of the fact that some people wanted their Characters Tom and Doug to be "involved"... there even was some "kissing" behind the camera or better to say in the outtakes and there were SO many scenes...

Problem is: They both got girlfriends after a while, and then it "suddenly stopped" or better to say: they "lost something" when they started dating this girls and were "actually in love", if you wanna say so...

The thing is: I could rather live with the fact of them being single like "forever"... why does there always have to be a girlfriend involved? To prove that they are still straight or what? I mean, why can't 2 male leads be single for at least a while? I mean, okay, Steve is still Single (I would say), but this thing with Catherine wasn't "Neccessary", in my opinioin... but well...

I have to admit: I haven't seen any interviews or something like that and I don't know if Alex or Scott already were questioned about their great chemistry, but I would love to hear their point of view in this thing... but well... if you say Alex already said something about "Bromance", I think it 's really cool of him... I started watching because of Alex, but now I also love Scott big time :-)

(btw. Thanks for betaing... I'm working on the fic right now, and I guess I will post it buy tomorrow... you were a great help and I will definitely mention you! :))

Alex has also made some comments that made it seem like he and Scott are an item, lol. I believe he's joking, but he said something about how Scott is in love with him and lights up like a kid at Christmas(or something like that)when he comes into the room, and he said they were moving and made a joke about how that sounded like they were moving in together.
I agree-why does there always have to be a woman? Years ago it wasn't like that, except for a few shows(and the women always left or were killed off)like the writers at that time felt it took away from the premise of the show as well as the relationships between the characters.I'm not saying I want the women killed off,I'm just saying that's what seemed to happen.
Now I think they want to appeal to the straight male viewers by having a lot of scantily clad women running around AND those women being with the guys(so the audience can pretend they're Steve and Danny) and they think the straight or bi women want to see Danny and Steve with women for the same reason. They think the women want to picture themselves in that women's shoes. I might agree with that, but they're also a lot of those women who like the slash, too!

actually I know more women that like slash than who don't... but well... maybe I have just a "special circle" of friends, I don't really know... most of my friends are VERY open in this case and a lot of them I for example got to know through "Queer as folk"... well... I have to admit: I very rarely picture myself with the guys... it's not that I for example don't think Scott and Alex are not hot, they ARE, but in THIS case I'm totally not attracted to them at all *lol* I wouldn't want to "make out" with them at all...

And there is this German actor, Timo Hübsch, who actually played a gay character on a german daily soap... and that was the moment I "fell for him" *lol* I thought it was pretty hot seeing him kissing his "partner" (kinda partner, they had an affair :P)... and seeing them making out was even hotter *lol*

Like I wrote: I'm a "strange person", but when I saw the "same actor" making out with another woman in another show I didn't like it at all... I would have loved to kill this woman off... I didn't want him to touch her to kiss her and whatever, but when he did the same things with this guy I thought it was hot... *lol* I was jealous seeing him with a woman, but I wasn't seeing him with a man *lol* Yeah... well... I'm THIS kind of strange *lol*

I mostly don't care for the women in tv-shows unless they are the lead characters... for example in BONES, I absolutely LOVE Emily Deschanel and in this case I REALLY want the 2 "lead characters" to hook up without any slash involved at all, but mostly it's different ;)

That is an awesome idea. XD I'd love to see something like that happen in the show, but of course, that's pretty unlikely.

I have a hard time imagining them giving Steve or Danny a long-term girlfriend. Their priority is definitely the relationship between Steve and Danny, even if the relationship is platonic. I'm sure that both characters will eventually be shown in romantic situations with women (well, we've seen it with Steve already), but I doubt actual relationships will be involved. That's my opinion, anyway, based on how much attention they've given to the Steve/Danny relationship. I could be completely wrong.

If you're interested in seeing a few short interviews or just excerpts from them regarding their chemistry, click here (http://koronaphoenix.livejournal.com/1613.html). Alex O'Loughlin in particular seems very vocal about their relationship and its importance to the show. And yeah, the chemistry between the characters (and actors) come up frequently in interviews and articles.

I also started watching because of Alex. :) He's still my favorite, but Scott is pretty awesome, too.

You're very welcome. I'm glad to help and I look forward to reading the finished product. :)

Yeah, i know it is pretty unlikely that they will ever "play gay", or if so, they might do it with Chin, just to annoy "us" *lol* I don't know... but something like that wouldn't mean ANYTHING at all... and they did it in other shows before, but well... like I said, I don't think they will ever go for something like that, even if it would be nice to see... I would have never thought they would go for something like that in this german tv-crime-show I'm watching, but they they were... okay, not much was happening, besides some dancing, but that was... well... good... =D

And hopefully you're right and Steve and Danny won't end up in a "long-term relationship"... But what I definitely think is, that it won't happen all too soon at all ;-) at SOME point they most do it... even in "bones" for example the characters who were Single like forever got a girlfriend/boyfriend after a while, but we'll see... ;-) that doesn't always mean something... if I have learned something, than this ;-) I mean, Booth has a girlfriend right now who he really loves, but since it's absolutely sure that the end-game will be Brennan/Booth, I am sure it won't last at all... so well, we'll see...

And thank you for the clips... It's always nice to know that the actors themselves are aware how "popular" a relationship is to a show... for example with this german Daily soap called "Alles was zählt"... Deniz and Roman are a couple in this show (a gay couple of course), and if they will ever "kill them off" (the writers), it will be the "end of the show", because even though there are lots of characters and interesting plots, the two of them are their cart horse and even the actors themselves are aware of the fact what an impact they have not only to german people, because their storyline is translated with subtitles on youtube and they get fanmail from all over the world...

You should really NEVER underestimate something like that, because it COULD be the "dead" of a show to kill something like that off...

So I just hope, that "the thing" between Steve and Danny will go on and on and on like forever... I could totally live with how it is because there is enough subtext to "dream" *lol* =D

And yes... Alex is my favourite too, but I pretty much "fell" for Scott too over the time =D
