Heya...
I thought a lot about "my new obsession" over the last days, especially about Steve/Danny and the "relationship" they are having and where the writers could have head to... and since I'm always "up for discussion", I thought, I could maybe share "my" opinion about this... especially because I REALLY don't know what to think about anymore... *lol* I thought I knew, but I'm not so sure anymore...
I have to admit: When I saw the first episode, I wasn't very thrilled at all... of course I noticed the "tension" between Steve an Danny, but becaues the show itself didn't hook me "immediately", I didn't think all too much about it... then there was the 2nd episode which I TOTALLY loved and adored and all of sudden I fell for the show...
and of course for Steve/Danny and whatever it is they are having...
But well, since I love this show, I'm now REALLY thinking about, which direction the writers will choose...
I'd like to compare it for example to "Bones" and the relationship between Booth and Bones... there always was some "tension" right from the start, and even if they are STILL not together or close to being together, it's more then obvious, that at SOME point they will be... maybe it will mean the end of the show, I don't know, but since they are really dragging it out for SOOOOO long, I think it will be the Season finale sooner or later... the wedding or something like that... them finally getting together...
but it's not as if there "never happened" anything between them... the writers are always throwing some bones... for example in Season 3 when they kissed underneath the mistle toe... or last season, with Booth REALLY wanting to "go for it"...
Now I'm asking myself, what the writers of "Hawaii Five-0" want... I mean, it's obvious that they want to show Steve and Danny as straight cool guys... I mean, why else would they bring "Catherine" into the game at all if not to prove that Steve is "oh so straight"...
but on the other hand they are "throwing bones" either, like in the last episode with the "Who are you talking to, your wife?" - "My partner" conversation... or the "You miss me, don't you?" thing...
It's as if the writers know EXACTLY what they are doing and that they really do this on purpose...
But I don't think they are REALLY heading into the direction of getting Steve and Danny together at some point, or do they?
I mean, I'm absolutely aware of the fact that the "main thing" of the show will be the "solving crimes" suspect, like it's always in "such shows"... It's in BONES too... or in for example 21 JUMP STREET and so on... but at some point, there IS some romance involved... mostly... even in "The Mentalist" we already HAD this kind of thing (and I haven't given up hope yet, that there will happen something again between 2 of the characters :P), so I'm asking myself, if at some point Steve and Danny will both hook up with girls or if they will stay single and have this "awkward kind of relationship"...
I mean, for ME it's always "more interesting" seeing something that "is not there" or better to say "something that they don't show"... I'm a slash whore like whoa, and the people who know me know this either, and I always had a thing for "pairings that don't really exist"... like in Prison Break Michael and Sucre or Lincoln and Alex and there is a loooooooooooong list of this... "my" pairings usually DON'T get together at all *lol*
Personally I don't think we will ever actually see Steve and Danny kissing, but on the other hand... if the writers REALLY wanna show how "straight" they are, why all this "hints" that they are not? Why all this comments about them "having something together"?
I'm a bit confused to be honest *lol*
and the other thing is: I don't know much about Alex or Scott... I mean, nothing "personal", like if they even would act something like that... I mean, I don't think they are homophobic at all, don't misunderstand me, but there ARE actors who prefer NOT to play a gay role or kiss people of the same sex, even for a movie or a tv-show... I don't know if Alex or Scott would actually "do it"... but I would love them if so *lol* =D
So well... what do YOU think? Do you think there WILL happen something at some point? Or are the writers just "playing" with the watcher's fantasies?
I mean, honestly... if they would actually be "brave" enough to go for something like that, that would be a first, would it? At least *I* have never seen something like that in a crime show... a lot of man/female main characters hooking up but never some male/male main characters hooking up =p I would love to see something like that for once =D

Date: 2010-11-05 08:48 pm (UTC)We fangirls never take these things as the writers want us to. :D Instead of believing in his heterosexuality, I think he could be bisexual. Plus, he and Catherine are fuckbuddies with benefits, she doesn't seem to expect him to be romantic, they aren't a cliche. Also, I believe she'd be totally up for a threesome with Steve's hot partner.
Oh, I'd love to see a show about fighting crime with the gay/be/lesbian/trans protagonist (asexual I've seen, BBC Sherlock). It's like those people in TV think only straight people are serving the country and protecting people.
I've seen only one Russian movie with a realisticaly portrayed gay coulpe (it started that way, then it became a MMF threesome), 'You, I love'. As I 've heard, it killed the actors' careers. D: But the movie is very good. I think it even was translated to English.

Date: 2010-11-05 09:22 pm (UTC)I have a friend for example, who had boyfriends her whole life (a girl), until she was 25 and met this woman who totally blew her away and she's together with her now for 5 years... and she always tells me, she can't imagine ever falling for another woman, becaues "normally" she's totally into men... and she always "drooled" over boys and still does...
the thing is: I love to think that there is THE ONE... the RIGHT one, that shows you that Love is not a thing of the gender...
I always intend to think like that when I slash in my tv-shows... like now Steve/Danny... for me it's okay that they are straight at all, but that doesn'T mean there can't be something TOTALLY deep between them... I don't know if you get my point and i have my problems to REALLY write this down in english to be honest *lol* I think, Steve (and Danny) are still attracted to women. Why not? And I definitely have no problems with this, BUT it's obvious (at least for me), that they ALSO Have a "thing" for each other... that they are "kinda" attracted to each other too and love to be togehter :-)
A Threesome with Catherine, Steve and Danny? Why not... if we actually would see some kissing between Steve and Danny and some touching, I would definitely go for this too *lol*
About "Alles was zählt" again... the ladies from "eskimokissproject" have "translated" all of the Deniz/Roman Scenes and episodes on youtube, if you are bored and have time and are interested in watching their storyline... Dennis and Igor (who are playing Deniz and Roman) have such an awesome chemistry... Really, that's sooooooooooooooo hot, and Igor isn't even gay at all, but he always says in interviews how much he likes to kiss Dennis and that he has no problem in tongue-kissing him ;-)

Date: 2010-11-05 09:54 pm (UTC)I agree. There's something definitely deep between Steve and Danny, and I think it's love. I could see them being bi,or not realizing they were gay until they fell in love with each other. I happen to agree with you about love being genderless, and I think sexuality isn't as cut and dried as people want to say it is,but I think the media is way behind us in that thinking.

Date: 2010-11-05 10:02 pm (UTC)If I have something "special" with someone, why "destroy" it with trying to label it if both enjoy it?
I for example could imagine Steve and Danny being involved without "changing much"... I picture them still fighting over some things and no big difference in their acting... the difference would maybe "only" be that they maybe go home together, or that the "touching" would be different, like if Danny for example gets wounded in the face or where else and Steve would touch it in a "special" way and so on...
and like I said... for me love is nothing you can label... and I think even the "straightest" guy COULD theoretically fall in love with another guy, if it's just the "right one", but maybe I'm just a "strange person" =D
